Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you wanted to know about this stuff but were afraid to ask. If you don't see it here ask us.

  1. Why are our web design, graphic design, and copy writing services so expensive?
First, we take you ideas and transform them into meaningful and consumable messages. Without these services your ideas would remain as ideas and could only be shared with a handful of people. Our services allow you to share your ideas to thousands if not millions of people.

Second, we can help shape your idea to convey what you meant and not necessarily what you said. We assist in formulating and constructing your ideas in order to increase business.

How can a lawyer charge so much money? What makes a lawyer different than everyone else? It is simply their knowledge that separates them from everyone else. But that knowledge, like all applied knowledge, is valuable. It can save you thousands of dollars or keep you out of prison.

We have in-depth knowledge of design, editing, art, marketing, sales psychology, and technology at a professional level. With our knowledge we can take your information and knowledge and mold them into the message that can facilitate your business.

  2. Why can't I just do this myself or let my nephew do this for me?
Of course, you could do it yourself or let an untrained person create these materials for you. But would you get legal advice from a "1-900" number? Of course not. It could cost you more in damage. And the same goes for your marketing message. Each time your name is out there, it could be aiding your business or hurting it.

In addition, if you added up your time to learn and create a website with the cost of the software required, you would see it is far more beneficial to use our system. The experience, quality and service of our designers make the whole process easy and efficient.

  3. I'm new to Websites and the Internet, how can I get a better understanding of the whole thing?
You can use "The Home" Analogy. In "The Home" Analogy, a Website can be thought of as a Home. Your Home on the Internet has to be built and filled with all of your belongings, just like your real-world home. The Website Address (Domain Name) is the Street Address of that Home. An example of a Website Address (Domain Name) is "www.OrigMedia.com". The E-mail Address is the Mailbox. People can send text messages, images, and other files to your E-mail Address. Hosting is like paying for the land that the Home(Website) sits on. Options are conveniences like Air Conditioning or a Dishwasher. They are not necessities, but give your site more functionality and allow you to do more with your Website. The Layout you pick is like your Blueprint and the Colors and Graphics are like the Paint and Wallpaper.

  4. What is navigation?
Navigation is another term for the buttons that allow a person viewing the website to go from page to page in your site.

  5. What is a Website Address (Domain Name)?
A Website Address is a unique address that identifies and directs people to your website. An example of a Website Address is www.OrigMedia.com. Please remember to only use letters, numbers or dashes (-). Do not enter spaces, periods (.) or other punctuation. Also, the Website Address cannot start or end with a dash.

  6. What is a good Website Address (Domain Name)?
Try to pick a Website Address people will remember. Try to make it pertinent to your business. Try to avoid using a name that is confusing to type because of similar sounding words or numbers. For example, www.1.com and www.one.com are two separate sites that may not be the same company.

  7. Why do I have to pay a recurring fee for my Website Address (Domain Name)?
You need to pay a recurring fee for your Website Address (Domain Name) in order to renew it. This allows names to be recycled for future use.

  8. How do I get a Website Address (Domain Name)?
First verify your chosen Website Address (Domain Name) is available by using our search tool in the Website Name section at OrigMedia.com. Then register your Website Address (Domain Name).

  9. I have a Website Address (Domain Name), can I still use your service?
Sure you can. All we need is a little information from you and we're off and running.

  10. What is hosting?
Hosting is when your website is placed on a web server to allow access to it over the Internet.
  11. What is a web server?
A web server is simply a specially configured computer where the files for your website are stored; it is accessible through the internet and allows visitors to view your website.
  12. I don't have a hosting provider, does Orig Media host my website?
Yes, we are equipped to facilitate your hosting needs.
  13. How do I check my e-mail, does it go through my current Internet Service Provider (ISP)?
You check your e-mail through Outlook or Outlook Express. Outlook Express is a free tool that usually comes packaged with the latest versions of Internet Explorer.
  14. Do I need to own the Copyright for my text and images?
YES! You must own the Copyright or have permission to all of your content including text and images. It is against the law to post content that you do not own.
  15. How do I submit the text (content) for my web pages?
To build your site we'll need the text and images you wish to display. You'll need to limit your content to 1,500 words and 5 images per page.

1.) Submit text and images through the www.OrigMedia.com website. This is Fast, Easy, and Free!
2.) Drop off a PC formatted CD or floppy disc with text and images at any retail location. This takes more time, but is Free.
3.) Fax a content form (available at resellers) to 773.598.0565 or drop it off at any reseller location.
Faxed page cost $4.95 each to be entered in the computer. Drop off images (8.5"x11" max) to be scanned for $4.95 each. Note: Faxed images are very low quality. Do NOT fax your images.
Note: Changes to content incur a $20 fee after the review period.
All materials will be returned at the retail location once the website is complete.

  16. Why do I have to pay for Faxed pages?
You have to pay for faxed pages because our developers have to enter the information into the computer. This takes time and slows down the whole process.

  17. Can I use a foreign language?
Yes, you may use a foreign language in your site. You must provide the content as an electronic file already in the foreign language. NOTE: Orig Media will NEITHER translate NOR proofread any content.

  18. Can I upgrade my website later?
Layout, graphics and content can be changed whenever you like, just check our pricing schedule.

  19. What web browsers are compatible with the website I will get?
    Any standard web browser.

  20. Will there be advertisements placed on my website?
No pop-up ads or banners are used, just a clean and stylish website that's all yours.

  21. Meta tags and Keywords? What are they? What do they do for me? Are they important?
Meta tags and Keywords are words or descriptions that help search engines classify your site.
Search engines, like www.yahoo.com and www.google.com use these words and descriptions to help classify your site.

  22. How long does it take to get my website on the Internet?
Your site will be completed and published within 4 weeks of receipt of your content and information. If you require a transfer of an existing Website Address this may take longer.
